Pumping Out the OVC

  1. Position the red pump cart in a spot where it can easily be connected to the OVC valve. Make sure that the auxiliary valve is also easily accessible.

  2. Attach a vacuum hose (bellows) from the OVC valve to the mouth of the turbo on the pump cart. You may need to attach two hoses together.

  3. Ensure that the auxiliary valve is CLOSED and the roughing valve is OPEN.

  4. Turn on the pump cart using the green switch on the back of the red panel.

  5. If it does not come on automatically, turn on the roughing pump using the switch on top of the roughing pump. You will know the roughing pump comes on when it makes a funny alien-space-craft-taking-off kind of sound.

  6. Monitor the OVC pressure on the equipment rack. When the pressure reaches $ \lesssim 10$ mBar. Turn on the pump cart turbo, by pressing the power switch on the right of the pump cart control panel.
