Mounting the OVC

--------- NO VACUUM GREASE ---------
Mounting the OVC is significantly more difficult due to the much larger weight of the shield.
  1. Clean the rim of the can, making sure that the rubber O-ring is clean and appears intact: no nicks, no discolorations, no gunk stuck in the groove, etc. Only remove the O-Ring if it needs to be cleaned. Removing it increases the chances of damage, and there often is not a need.
  2. DO NOT apply vacuum grease. If the O-Ring is damaged or cracked, replace it.
  3. For the top half: Aligning the welds raise the OVC and mount with M4 screws with washers from the bottom. For the bottom half: Aligning the welds, raise the OVC and mount with M4 screws with washers from the top.
  4. If you are using the automatic lifter:
    1. Strap the OVC to the claw of the lifter so that the can is secure but can still be rotated.
    2. Rotating the wheel by hand, lift the can a few inches off the ground and by rotating the top horizontal bar adjust the angle of the can so that it is level.
    3. Using the servo motor, lift the can up all the way. make sure to stay clear of the 70K shield.
    4. The lifter will automatically stop a few inches below the bottom of the upper shield. Use the wheel to lift the can the rest of the way, but do not force it on the upper shield.
    5. Use the C-clamps to hold the can up while attaching it with the M4 bolts.

Obviously, you do not need to clean the outside of this can (unless you want to).
